I told you what the policy for driver
plate current change is-- free except for
shipping & Insurance. These changes are not splashy or visible-- they
involve changing several expensive resistors, and
maybe a silver-oil capacitor if needed. If I
see a hogged-out tube socket, I replace it. That's about it.
Nothing splashy or obvious. But it does cost ME to do it.I'll repeat-- these changes ARE NOT required to enjoy
World-Class performance on excellent, large surface area,
Hi-Eff speaker systems which have large cabinet volumes. As time goes on, amps are improved in any way that we
can think of.If someone wants his 30-year old amp converted into a
newer model, it costs what it costs. The changes that are made are intelligent ones-- the
object is to respect the original design and the owner. That means that splashy, obvious changes are not
considered.Another example would be diesel pickups. An American
diesel pickup is good for at least 1,000,000 miles
of service. Most people will never see that. Why? To get that
means using 100% Synthetic oils, changing that oil
often, NOT doing any stupid mods to the engine, changing
air & oil filters often, and changing transmission oils
often, and servicing all U-Joints and front-end parts &
bearings often. Now, what mods can be done to the diesel pickup--
intelligent ones that will not compromise that 1,000,000
miles of service life? One can make SLIGHT timing changes-- SLIGHT. One can
can make SLIGHT exhaust system changes, and one can make
SLIGHT air-intake changes.NONE of this is VISIBLE and an idiot customer who just
doesn't get it-- will think he's been ripped-off.But he hasn't-- he got what SHOULD be done, and NOT
splashy, obvious, changes that will lessen the life of
the truck. What just happened here? Well, the customer just ran
into one of the 1 or2-- out of a hundred diesel mechanics
who knows what he's doing. The customer got a better running truck, and it gets
better fuel mileage. But, he can't see the small, not
obvious changes, and in most cases like this, he expects
instant, obvious results or he thinks he's ripped-off..An idiot. He doesn't get it-- a good diesel
engine, running on pure Synthetic oil, takes about
200,000 miles to fully break-in. He won't wait, and
doesn't believe it.Doesn't everybody know this? Sure-- the few who really use
these pickups know. The guessers in this world DON'T get it.Don't blame your mechanic. Try something new: understand
the product.-Dennis-
