EI chokes are OK for the main B+.

When you get down to powering a driver
stage, or you're building a preamp, no kind
of EI core will get the job done-- you'll
lose those sparkling highs....

R.F. chokes and small value, film or
mica caps get the job done for the highs,
and further clean-up the B+2 for your high
gain stage. All of this will work very well
if a shunted rail for this smaller chain is
powered-- at first-- by the main B+.

One could build separate power supplies for
different stages. That was done in a few 1950's
amps. Problem was, not all of the power
supplies warmed up at the same moment, giving
you reliability problems.

Mini filter chains after the main B+-- shunted-- for high
gain stages, solved the problems-- all of them!
