It only lasts one sample. At that moment and for that moment the CD player is outputting a voltage equivalent to 2VRMS. These is no mechanism for the CD player to ever output more than 2VRMS.

So I ask again. Dennis, show us the source of an input signal that would cause "hundreds of amps" of B+ current to flow in a 2a3 amplifier.
