RE: 12BH7 vs 6SN7GTB

"Any chart differences-- if any-- between the 6SN7
and the 12BH7 are trivial at best. "

You clearly don't understand how harmonic distortion is created by the non-linearity of the transfer function of a tube.

"THOSE 6SN7's greatly
outperform the heavy-based tubes, where the mass of the
base acoustically shorts-out the best of the highest
highs in your music."

It sounds like you think the heavy base mechanically damps out the high frequencies. Like mass loading a speaker box.

The signal going through the tube and wires is electrical, not mechanical (acoustical).

Certainly if a tube is subjected to large mechanical vibrations those vibrations can cause electrical problems but a tube is not a speaker box.

Mass loading of a tube should do no harm and if anything help with regard to damping out possible microphonics. Microphonics describes the phenomenon where a tube transforms mechanical vibrations into an undesired signal. As I recall you once typed "the best tubes are the ones that are the most microphonic" again showing that you have no understand of how things work.

Now if you were trying to say that the material of the base (or the glue) creates a shunt capacitance and that shunt capacitance provides a electrical path to ground for the high frequencies then we could have that discussion. Really anything Dennis. Anything based in reality, but I never get that from you. Just blah blah blah.

It bothers me that you always have a lot to say but you never explain your conclusions in any rational way. It's always just blah blah blah blah blah BS.

I worry about a person reading what you say and believing it but I really shouldn't. Anyone stupid enough to believe what you say gets what he deserves. A totally wrong understanding of how things work.

Dennis, there is no need for you to respond to this post. It wasn't written for you.
