The example of the sun is no, 'more out than in'. That is just energy release on a rather fantastic( compared to a lightbulb) scale...and yet given the finite fuel source, it is going to go through a relatively well predicted end.
Not seeing anything resembling your example, save repeated assurances that it is possible, even given the 'we are not breaking the 'more out than in' rule.
Also, the only thing I might contemplate agreeing upon is that you have provided an example that bears much more relation to those put off by con men than verifiable( and therefore profitable ), reporting.
