I understand all of that.

contact bias is not what I was talking about. I didn't think you were talking about contact bias.

I thought you were talking about a tube, used in a voltage amplifier, sounding better with a grid resistor on the low side of "normal" vs. on the high side of "normal"?

Did I misunderstand your original comment?

"Within the ability of the stage ahead of it being able to drive it, things like low value resistors and grid chokes have always improved the sonic presentation of an amp. Avoiding it for an input stage, where any possible effect would be magnified by the gain seems like leaving something on the table. "
