Got It!

Try putting a 32ohm load on an 8ohm OPT tap?

My family room has four dipole surround speakers and all speakers serve double duty with the TV AV receiver. So the speakers are switched through power relays between the TV and tube music system.

The surround speakers are wired two in series for the AV receiver, 16ohms which is fine for that SS amp. When switching to tube music mode, that 4 pole relay on the surround speakers parallel the two 16ohm speaker pairs into a mono 8ohm combined load.

Relay was mis-wired on tube amp side and was putting the 16ohm pairs in series versus parallel.

But again why would this affect the SRPP stage when it is outside the feedback loop. There must be another phantom feedback loop I am not seeing.

I will follow the suggestions here with C2 and R1.
