I'm highly skeptical that such loose coupling, and at such a low level (due to most of the field being cancelled), is the root cause of audible hum in this type of equipment. It has never occurred anywhere I've lived with any of my 3-wire audio gear. It also never occurred in any service environment I've worked in despite a LOT of test gear being plugged in and used to drive and measure customers' equipment. Never.
