Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

Are you from Montana?

And on a serious side, 10 uV in front of a moving coil amplifier chain will prove audible.
(that was not intentional...LOL)

The basic idea that a system that uses a bypass cap should have a Very Large cap there is sound. I just don't quite care as to the 'why' it does not always get reported as working. The last few builds I executed have a lot of capacitance in their B+ filter and they work better for it. Not quite sure they would not work even better if I doubled it. Same goes for the only other place a bypass is used; the signal tube g2 to cathode with a dropping resistor to B+.

This requires more work, and as far as I see it, they work quite well enough right now... :) I do look forward to getting them out in front of some additional sets of ears and getting a second opinion on that...heh-heh-heh.

Which brings the 'why' bit back into some elevated importance...if I don't know why all these variables could possibly be changing stuff, just changing one of them is a fool's errand.
cheers,
Douglas

Friend, I would not hurt thee for the world...but thou art standing where I am about to shoot.
