A good design won't change very much just because different parts (of the same value) or a different layout or different wire are used.

A 7b4 driving a 2a3 direct coupled is a compromised design to start with and to get the exact compromises that Dennis gets you would have to know exactly what he is doing and use the exact parts and layout but you have to ask yourself "why bother?"

There is nothing "magical" or "special" about Dennis amp. For some reason you and a few other people think there is, but there really isn't.
