In my case I changed ALL of the PS Cap from electrolytics to DC-Link film (plus one Solen) and the coupling caps to either teflon (NOS Russian) or V-cap Tin Foil and Fluoropolymer.

Oh, and two more DC-link as cathode resistor by-pass, split as 70uf to ground and 20uf to B+.

AND...

A new filament supply from Tent Labs.

Any of the above COULD have changed a bit over time to cause the illusion of break-in, if indeed it was an illusion.
