RE: Cathode bypass...

An LED establishes a constant cathode voltage, much in the same way a bypassed cathode resistor does. I can tell you that we have done that in several different amps with great success--dirt cheap, and sonically vastly superior to a bypassed resistor. It simply is not a high-pass filter.
