I saw your post. I'm just not as personally opposed to fixed bias as you and feel it is somewhat tube dependant. In cases where a large % of my B+ would be used up I think it pays to look at how fixed bias would fit in. And in this case I can see the driver stage has to swing a lot of volts and figured a negative voltage rail could fit in well. I dare to say a 1000VDC voltage doubler with a 500VDC tap for front end tubes and a negative rail of 200VDC could work for an economical approach!

But enough on this, what's up with you? Have you turned from Fultons and pentodes to field coils and SET's .... or something along the high(er) efficent speaker type of setup?
