Thanks.Here is another schmatic.
The movement of the balancing circuit to the input diff pair is a very good idea. In the setup I use now I have only around 4mA I can switch from side to side of the transformer. Now I get around 15mA, all according to spice. My output tubes keeps inside a 3mA margin, so I think they are good matched.I have changed the input stage a bit, actually I have now idea of the good operatings point for tubes, I have not tried to build that much. By fiddling around with the values I found out it's quite interactive.
Would a tube like 6C45pi be a better solution to the first stage? They should be very linear at low voltages I have read.
And 1.5 mA though each tube that works like a driver. Is that enough?CCS as a replacement for plate resistors. I have an idea, probably totally wrong, that it is better to pull the current down from the bottom of a tube instead of push it from the top. Here in Europe we use a type of saws that have to be pushed away from us. But when starting on the cut everybody pulls the saw gently towards our body to get a good starting point. In Japan they use pull saws, which means they always pull the saw towards themselves. The european saw has to be thick, but still bend a little when pushed. The japanese saw is very thin, and gets straighten out when pulled. (And sorry for my horrible english)
Still, what are the drawbacks of DC coupling?
