RE: Fast Recovery rectifier- what does it contribute to AUDIO or for tube amp?

A narrow pulse of current flows briefly in the reverse direction in each diode on each AC cycle, so there is a noise source (high order harmonics of 120 Hz). The fast recovery types have a even narrower pulse, thus less noise energy (Schottky types have none). Depending on amplifier design, it may already be be below audibility, so that there's no further improvement to be had by going to the faster types. Though when building from scratch, why not? Cost is minimal for fast-recovery types. Schottkys are more expensive and in transistor style packages which are less convenient to use.
