RE: choke ratings question

Since .05H will be only 18 Ohms at 60 Hz, the function generator may not be able to drive it to the saturation voltage - you'll need an amplifier. Connect it through a resistor (maybe 10-47 Ohms) - increase the level until distortion(saturation) starts. To measure with DC, you need to put two chokes in series, run DC current through both, and measure across one as before. Use a large coupling capacitor to keep the DC out of your amp, though...
