It's a thought, in the Uk for instance a pair of 1kv Halogen bulbs in series would be about right for a pair of px25's biased up to 50v through 14 ohms. You just have to make a good 4amp 52v filament supply. You've shifted a problem and made it more difficult to do. I think under those circumstances I'd stick with my ac filament power and fixed battery bias.
