(joelt)So, I already asked Dave Cigna this question Paul, and got no answer, so now I'll ask you - can you show us a single tube stage that can take a 1v pk-pk signal (our defined minimum from cd output), and deliver 95v pk-pk, under 1% distortion?


joel, this is the DIY fourum, the last word in diy is yourself, it boggles my mind that we need something as silly as a "defined minimum" for a CD output, when essentially we can just put that "yourself" part to good use amd measure the damn output and design accordingly.

nobody will debate that a voltage gain of 95 will not happen with one stage, but to suggest that everyone needs that much voltage gain for his system just to meet your "defined minimum" so you can plug your CD player into it is comical at best.
