Re: Eico HF-12 mods

Thanks Guys,
purchased those from an old T.V. shop that's closing after many years in business. Listen to them at store. No hiss no hum.
The man is sitting on a pile of old tube gear.
Reminds me of my dear mother (circa1962) asking me "Louis, you are not going at the pharmacy again to test the T.V. tubes? are you??".
Opened them up last night. One cap is leaking oil.

Put on Dion for old days sake...
Nice sweet sound !
Compared to my heavily moded Dynaco SCA-35, volume has less gain.
Dynaco at 8 o'clock=Eico at 2 o'clock.
Probably due to removal of all switches, tone, balance, phono board, hum switches as i remember that gain increased after removal.

Will bring it up to spec with quality parts and use them as amps with Foreplay that i'm about to order.

I still do not understand why Dynaco's has so many tweak devotees ? Why Dyna and not Eico.

Thanks to all you internet tweakers.
Louis
