Re: Who thinks they built the best amp they ever heard? What is it?

I won't be so bold as to say the best amp I have ever heard, period, but certaintly the best amp I have ever had in my system is my interstage transformer coupled push-pull triode using UTC LS-55 output transformers, Lundahl L1660 phasesplitter/interstage, 5842 driver, FullMusic 2.5V meshplate 300B outputs (newly installed!), choke input supply w/ second Pi filter, ASC oils + Solens bypassed with Sequa oils with an small RTX on top for power supply caps throughout. Super clean, great tonal balance, having the dynamics and control of a push-pull plus the detail and "you are there" magic of a SET.

Still working on the "best" preamp. I have a transformer coupled 6N30P that is pretty damn good using cheap Allied interstages as outputs, and working on a version with Electra-Print iron.

I can't afford to buy this kind of sound.
