I posted this on the Vintage forum but didn't get a complete answer so I'm trying here . . . I've been fixing up an Eico HF-81 which has the so-called "Death Cap" design. I read the post linked below that suggests using an AC suppression cap and a polarized plug. I ordered the suppression cap but now I'm wondering if I should install the cap along with a 3-wire power cord instead of a polarized 2-wire. I'm confused by the following statement in the original post:"You're much safer with a polarized plug! In combination with replacing the cap it's about as safe as it can be without going to a 3-wire (and circuit) modification."
Does this mean the circuit would have to be modified to use a 3-wire plug or does this refer to an additional mod which would augment the 3-wire? In other words, would using a 3-wire just involve connecting the third wire to the chassis? . . . or is it more complicated than that?? Thanks for your help on this . . . Charlie
