Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

Because ST-70 is a popular DIY-mod project.

Hi.

Upgrading is always part of ST-70, which indeed left tons of rooms for mods considering it is a 'vintage' design back in 1950s.

AS G-7 said it right, too much mods - no more ST-70!

Beside destroying its vintage personality, it doesn't warrant better sound despite spending man-hours & money on the overhauling ST-70.

One thing I fully agree with what Sheldon Stokes, who spent more than enough time & energy in mod'ying ST-70:
"Based on my listening experience with various ST-70 mods, the most
satisfying mods change the amp the LEAST."

So, don't hold your breath for miraculous sonic return even one wants to drop a bundle to replace driver, irons etc etc. It may not happen. I've read published report on rebuilding the ST-70 driver stages entirely etc etc, & the sonic result did not justify the hard work at all.

Too many flies spoil the ointment ????

Good listening
