Douglas,I was a newbie three years ago, been there and done that. Not enough though ;o> , tube DIY is addictive!
I am right in the middle of a two-month breadborad experiment, and can't agree more with you. So many topologies, so little time!
Now playing with NiCd bias vs LED bias, PSRR vs PSU topologies, etc...
Something like a PP-UL EL-34 or KT-88 is what 7591 needs... for the moment, until the mighty triode appeal strikes!
