Several ideas in archives, and also on Bona's site (see FAQ for link); one Mullard circut even has tone controls with the bass in the feedback loop. 1/2 the 12ax7 will drive el84 adequately (no need for 2 in a simple schematic) so could use one tube to drive a stereo SE el84. That's what I'm going to do with an old PE mono pp el84 that has a 6eu7 in it (6eu7 is a 6.3v version of the 12ax7 intended as a quieter version).
