I've been playing with a Stereo EL84 PP amp from a DuMont console. Amp uses 12AX7 for input/tone controls and 12au7 for driver.I have bypassed the tone controls and now am inputting straight to the driver stage. Gain insufficient, gotta kick the preamp way up. It does work and sounds great. I tried reducing (even eliminating) the NFB loop to increase gain. That works, but this one seems to play best with the original amount of NFB.
I am thinking of going to an ST-35 style arrangement, but instead of the unusual driver tube (7247 I think), I would like to use one 12ax7 and one 12au7, each tube handling left and right channels. Electronically, I think that is the equivalent of a ST-35.
Problem is, I can't seem to find a legible schematic on the net. I dont think Sam's photofacts exist for Dynaco.
Any thoughts on this faux ST-35 or where I can get the schematic?
Thanks
Jim
