Main reason being, for a given expenditure, I can get better performance. My intended $500 in parts for this amp-to-be is intended to yeild the performance far in excess of an off-the-rack unit of the same price.
What I'm looking for are ideas on parts selection/suppliers and overall topology. Like an appropriate power tx, with specs of xxx vc.t. @400 mA, filament windings of xx amps of 6.3vac and x amps of 5v can be had from ______, for____ and be used in circuit that looks like_________, using this tube for front end and another for phase splitter of something like that. I have a few ideas, but want different perspectives and suggestions.
