"only beef on this amp's sound is hard-nasty clip into low efficiency speakers - make you pray for 'sistors- will larger grid-stoppers on outputs mitigate that to a degree?"no. The hard clipping is probably due to the effect of the global feedback collapsing abruptly as it can no-longer keep the distortion under control. Clipping comes on more gradually without much feedback.
