with the original 235 ohm resistors,each el34 was drawing aprrox 65ma per tube which is very maxed..With a new power supply and the 250ohm,it has dropped enough to where its not overheating and with the new upgrades it perfect.
One nice thing about going with fixed bias is it allows to use 6L6s and Kt66s and even kt88s.The amp handles it well as I am doing this to my second hf87.
If the power supply waveform isn't pretty,neither is the sound in most cases.
