The other post was getting rather long so I thought it best to start a new one.
You asked if it was possible to do what you want with two 6sn7's or four 2c22's. The answer is yes, four triode sections is adequate. In general, a voltage amp going to a LTP is a reasonable solution. A CCS is the best tail load but there are other ways to avoid one and the need for a negative supply. Direct coupling is one of them. I'll include a link to give you an idea of what I am talking about. This is not to say this is the best or only way, just another one for you to consider. Direct coupling does require a little more knowledge to pull off as the operating point of the first tube dictates what the second tube Must be operated at. You can, of course, cap couple to the LTP instead and use a negative voltage rail to avoid this.
I will be away for awhile (surgery) but I should be up to looking at a computer in a few days and I'll try and answer anymore questions you have then.
