EICO HF-81 as a phono preamp

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

I wish to put into action my EICO HF-81 (otherwise collecting dust) as a phono preamp feeding my home brewed 300B SET monoblocks. My question is this...to employ this integrated amplifier as a dedicated preamp, what is the accepted method? Shall I remove the power tubes entirely and go on my merry way? Or, should I replace the vintage Mullard EL84's with lesser grade output tubes and present a dummy load to the speaker outputs? Is there something that I am not considering here?
