Then, I was at Gary's when we compared via switch a plate choke, stock C4S, and Rev 2 of his pentode CCS.
At line level, there was what we all considered to be a large difference between the three, with *all* favoring the pentode CCS as sounding the least artificial.
When the pentode CCS was added to the output stage of Gary's 45 amp (with increased voltage swing), the differences were multipled about a factor of 5X.
"However, if it sounds better I'll do it."
Give it a shot, it does sound better. CCS loading is the future.
