I have used both plate chokes and Gary's CCS in my driver stage. The CCS wins hands down. IMHO it does everything a plate choke does but better - better power supply isolation, much higher impedance, the sound is just fantastic. The one drawback is that it needs a higher supply voltage, but that's not a big deal because your output tube already runs at something close to what the CCS will be happy with. Give it a shot - with Gary's circuit boards it's easy to toss together and if you don't like it, you'll be out a LOT less than the cost of a quality plate choke.
