Although a 2.5V directly heated 6L6 beam tetrode variant, its chacteristics are similar to a 45 when triode strapped. In a lot of circuits it can sub for a 45 w/o circuit change although base is totally different so it's not a plug-n'play sub. Major problem is that it's a metal envelope tube and therefore isn't audiophile approved. OTOH they're quite inexpensive and can be sacrificed in the service of the music.
