The 45 has the direct heated sound. The 1626 simply doesn't as it is not direct heated. Thus, there is a substantial and significant different. Current regulation on the filaments is not as good as AC. And, you don't need it with the 45 as it is a 2.5VAC filament. On the Mudhoney, I got about 1mV hum with 2k5. Hope that helps,Larry D. Moore
