RE: difference between a 45 tube and a 46 tube

45 has 1 grid, 46 2 grids. Filament current is different. Biasing is bound to be different. Without careful consideration of the circuit parameters, they are not directly interchangeable.

Without a circuit, no one can advise you as to how you can swap between the two.
