Hello, I´m building a Push pull 43% ultralineal amp, output tubes are
EL84/6BQ5 (8K Ohms plate to plate, 300VDC), for use with 8 ohms speakers.
I have questions about my output trafo buyed.
Primary DCR=206 Ohms from center HT to each plate cable side, so total prim DCR=412 Ohms.
Ultralineal Taps DCR=180 ohms from center HT to each plate cable side.
Secondary DCR=1.4 Ohms
Secondary VAC=5.6V connecting the primary to 252VAC.
My mathematics are:
N=mains voltage/secondary voltages=252/5.6=45, so N*N=2025.
If the secondary impedance is for 8 Ohms, then the primary impedance is 2025*8=16Kohms, so, for me, the ultralineal taps are 86% to each plate cable from center HT, and the plate to plate impedance is 16KOhms, all is twice!!. But, reading the total DCR on primary and taps, its ratio gives 360/412=0.87, or 87%, and considering the center HT it gives just 87/2=43.5%.
And, finishing, if I consider that the impedance from CHT to each plate cable is the total impedance/4, then if adds I have 16/4+16/4=8Khoms. As you can see, I´m a little confusing.
I grateful if anyone can help me with this, thank you very much really.
