I placed a similar post in the Vintage Asylum section with no takers, so here is my last attempt:I have a TEAC A-4300SX reel-to-reel in pretty good condition, still with its plastic shell/cover intact (a couple small cracks). This thing has had very little use at all and has been stored in an A/C environment for the past 20+ years. I just acquired it and have placed it in my attic. I have absolutely no use for it at all. I ain't a reel-to-reel kinda guy! I have turned it on, the lamps work, the reel winds...but that is the extent of my testing.
I am looking for someone who wants to trade straight up for it. I would love a solid, 70's silver faced Pioneer tuner or cassette deck. It doesnt have to be pristine! Hell, I'd even accept a couple "slightly" broken ones in trade if they were pretty enough!
These reel-to-reels are so darn heavy that I dont want to deal w/ e-bay on this one (I have seen some today going for $50-100+). If you are interested, how about e-mailing me a pic of what you got? If I like it, I'll give you a time to come over to my house and test out my reel-to-reel (bring your own speaker & test tape). I live near the 495/95-Springfield Interchange.
I dont just want to "collect" crap to store in my attic. I like to USE things that I have. I dream about having stereo systems in every room of the house! The wife won't permit it (she says I dont have to put my "stamp" in every room), but I can still dream! You can't stop a man from dreaming, can ya?!
I've got 3 record players, 2 receivers, a Sansui SE-7 EQ, and other assorted vintage pieces, but I have USES for them!
I hope there is someone out there who would like to trade! If you have any questions, please post them here, rather than send them to my e-mail. That way EVERYONE can see my answer. If you want to offer a trade, you can send that direct to me.
