My first approach years ago was to install the jacks, while keeping the heads permanently connected to the internal electronics. That approach worked, but there was always some ground loop noise, due to system's complexity.I now just have two headblocks. I am also considering making my main 2-Track playback block better by replacing the stock head with some improved kind.
I like the Otari's and would not mind having another one, but I already have four tape decks, and running out of space. :)
