Home Tape Trail

Reel to reel, cassette and other analogue tape formats.

I admit, that's part of the attraction

And it's fun too. Don't punish yourself! I've discovered there's a sizeable community of enthusiasts who are having a whole heap of fun, doing their own thing, and I want to be part of that. I get new cassette releases all the time now, a lot of it experimental , but also loads of familiar releases, NOS.

Going to get this into tip-top shape and just enjoy it. B&W (Bowers & Wilkins) in the UK are going to service this one for me. They have a Nakamichi service department, still! The folk at TapeHeads are also helping me get this one up to speed. I've built up a stash of blanks of all grades, and this will encourage me to pay more attention to my vinyl playback too.

Interestingly chez moi, in the age of Spotify (which we all have but to which I'm mostly indifferent) and streaming, my wife and younger daughter had me get NOS Walkmans for them. I also got some (x3) really nice high quality ones for me too . My wife doesn't like the fuss and complication of digital and wants me to make mixtapes of my vinyl collection for her commute; my daughter is a Tolkein fan, loves LoTR and after I bought her a sealed 7-cassette audio version of the story, decided she needed something on which to listen to it. All the excuse I needed!
