let me understand you - you're going to dub the BC tapes to "flat"? Are you then going to dispose of the BC's? Reason for asking is from a sound quality perspective, I'd keep the BC's and use a Dolby decoder when you want to play them. The "B" decoder I use was "robbed" from a Tandberg casette deck. Tan used "superior quality" components vs say an Advent and sounds very nice.

BTW - do you plan to "recap" your new A77. I'd sure recommend it - and change the trimmer pots at the same time.
