Hope your having fun. Kind of sounds like you are.
As you are finding out, the big problem with this tape thanng is availability and price of "software". As you have discovered, there is a lot of good material "out there" but finding (and affording) it is an issue. I guess part of the fun is "THE SEARCH"!!??. Tape Project tapes are available; and wonderful - but again, the affordability issue.
Since I've started from the analog end and "graduated"?? to digital I can kind of appreciate what you finding out about the "infinite bit/sampling rate world". There are nuances that digital doesn't (yet) get and things it adds that it shouldn't. Personally feel that if enough brainpower, desire and "love" keeps being applied to the audio bit world, someday it will conquer. Unfortunately, by then we'll all be so poor that we won't be able to afford it - or have traded what gear we have for food.
O yeah: there are a lot of friendly folks here (and at the Tape Project forum) willing to help by fielding questions and offering "advice"
