Yea we saw that comming after the Decline staring in the Midth 90s
Now even Sony has stopped selling Casette tapes (In UK) reason is probaly because of the Maxell competition is strong there. No updates has been made here in europe since 1997/1998
Except for Minor update from Sony and Maxell in 2000 & 2002Now even old Basf (Now emtec by dexxon) is stopping with audiotapes
having reduced tape models to only the Cheap "Basf Sound" tape.
(meaning Fe,Ce and CS are discontinued as of 2007)Tdk only Has D,Sa and Fe and Sony mostly HF and UXS
and maxell UR and XL II.In the shops over europe is mostly only Sony HF and TDK D tapes that sells all are Normal position (i am a big fan of Chrome tapes).
Probaly Sony will Pop out of Audiocasette marked in other places
as they have done in UK with removing Audiocasettes from their Recording media website catalog. This will leave us with Maxell and Tdk, and TDK is now being auquired by Imation.(althrough they promise to still sell tapes)
The situation is clear Go digital or Go Ebay
Today i Saw a shop here selling Old Basf CE extra tape
needless to say i got some.
