IP Address: 67.164.84.103 Last Update: October 19, 2022 at 19:10:43
Amplifier: Almarro A205A MKII w/ NOS Phillips EL84 and NOS RCA blackplate 12ax7
Preamplifier (or None if Integrated): None
Speakers: Klipsch Heresy III
Sources:
CD Player/DAC: Stan Warren modded Pioneer DV-603 dvd player
Other Source(s): Magnum Dynalab FT101 Tuner
Other Accessories/Room/Misc.:
Speaker Cables/Interconnects: Stan Warren T-1s speaker cable, and THHN interconnect. (T-1 cables have some shielding, necessary for some of the RF/EMI issues in this room.)
Other (Power Conditioner, Racks etc.): Monstercable HTS1000; P&S 5260 outlet.
Tweaks: Almarro amp: replaced coupling caps with big ol' AmpOhms; replaced last PS cap with flim (same value), bypassed 1st & 2nd PS electrolytic caps with film (1% value) (2022).

Room Size (LxWxH): 12 x 10 x 8
Music Preferences and Comments:
Music Used (Genre/Selections): Jazz, rock, indie.
System Goals/Comments: Trying to get an effortless sound that moves your feet!

Got rid of preamp and started piping the Squeezebox straight into the amp. What a difference!

After that, tweaks to power and Teac amp got this system sounding pretty musical. Biggest difference was a dry-ice cryo of the tripath board (surprise!).
System Strengths: Can rock out and play loud volumes without compression. Laid back and sweet.
System Weaknesses: Not a detailed or refined system. Three drivers don't transition that well. Not much in the extremes frequencies, and overall rather dark sounding, but these crimes of omission work well for the some of other compromises I make with the source materials.
Video/HT System: None
