I've had rattles on my speakers (not Hales) three separate ocassions and have been fooled every time as to the source of the rattle. Initially the source of the rattles appeared to come from the drivers but trial and error determined differently. Causes were:1/ Internal speaker wire resting on bass driver magnet.
2/ Loose binding post plate.
3/ Loose lock not on one spike.
To investigate, assuming your cdp has an A-B loop repeat, repeat the portion of music which causes the rattle while sliding your hand over the speaker. Use your hand to dampen binding posts, plates, spikes, driver mounts, tweeter plate, top plate, grill or whatever may cause a rattle. If the source of the rattle is something external it will be obvious when you touch it.Investigate the obvious before you do something you'll most likely regret at a later date. ie: silicon the driver to the cabinet.
