....when I stand on a two foot high box. ;)My sofa is average (or a little above) in height, which puts my ears at about 38" off the floor, and I had to adjust the stand to tilt back a bit.
I do find they sound better when I slouch down somewhat....but then again it may be because the sofa-back is now behind my ears and provides less reflections than the blinds....
