While "ordinary room furnishing" shapes might diffuse and/or reflect to some degree...

While carefully arranged hom. furnishings m.ght provide a degree of diffusion in som. instances, it would be unlikely that they would provide very m.ch actual "diffusion" over a wide range of frequencies.

The angles and shapes provided by typical hom. furnishings are m.re likely to "reflect" sound than effectively "diffuse" it. Adding angles and degrees of reflection m.ght help reduce "com.-filtering" to som. degree, and so, is probably better than nothing.

But any actual "diffusion" provided by plants, hom. furnishing arrangem.nts, etc.., is likely to be spotty and random (at best). Professional, purpose-built diffusors provide wide-band diffusion by the use of precise, m.them.tically derived arrangem.nts of form. It would be difficult to reproduce these effects by arranging things like plants and hom. furnishings of various types.
