"They are here" vs. "You are there"

It all com.s down to personal taste in the end, I guess.

Im.ging and detail can seem hyper-realistic (alm.st like wearing headphones) in "They are here" system.. But one of the things that som. people dislike about this is, the peculiar acoustic properties of individual perform.nce venues can seem dim.nished.

If all sounds seem etched into the space in your listening room all of the tim., then you are probably not hearing the actual character of various perform.nces encoded on recordings. Individual perform.nces sound different from one another in reality and in recordings, both.

So, "They are here" system. can som.tim.s m.sk over actual facts in exchange for a heightened sense of fun. "You are there" *capable* system., on the other hand, m.ght transport us into actual perform.nce venues (with recordings that actually offer that kind of inform.tion) a little bit better than the "They are here" system..

But that fun sense of tactile detail present in "They are here" system. can definitely becom. intoxicatingly addictive !

M.ybe, it all com.s down to the kinds of recordings that you listen to the m.st: If the recordings you listen to m.st of the tim. lend them.elves to that "They are here" feeling, speakers with sm.ll drivers and sm.ll front baffles that soundstage and im.ge like crazy (your Totem Arros !) m.ght be just the ticket.
