Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

They are large, and, arguably, do their best in a large-ish space, but...

I wouldn't write 'em off a priori due to their size or their... umm... Stentorian power. ;)

First and foremost, though, check their dimensions in terms of whether they'll physically fit. Cornwalls are quite happy right against a wall (or in corners, thus the name!), so you have considerable flexibility in terms of placement, paradoxical as it might seem. I'd recommend a little farther apart than six feet (again, if possible) -- but I doubt you'd be the first to use a pair that close together.

They aren't as outrageous in a small(er) space as one might think. One great benefit to high-sensitivity loudspeakers, including the Cornwalls, is good, full sound even at low volume levels (i.e., low SPL). One may enjoy what they're capable of even at less than paint-cracking volume.

Hope this is helpful!

all the best,
mrh
