loudspeaker placement is even more critical,though.To paraphrase Tom Brennan yet again: face-down is always a good choice, unless it's possible place them a few miles away from one's listening space.

In seriousness, I found the "Heritage" Klipsch to sound absolutely horrible with typical solid state amplifiers, good with single-ended triode amplification, and the best I ever heard mine sound was with them connected to a Marantz 8B (a rather redoubtable, well designed and executed push-pull EL34 stereo power amp).Fisher 400 or 500C sound good with them, too, but I think it's mostly because they smooth out (round over) the rough edges of the loudspeakers.
The Marantz made my '74 Cornies sound like very good loudspeakers.
