The one bad thing about being a teacher is that all the holidays you get are all the holidays the kids get - so always the high season. Back when I worked in business - I could take the holidays in the low season.
when my mom visited me here in Hong Kong from Vancouver her return air ticket including taxes as around $700 Canadian! My vacation starts July 15th - my return is $1,500 to Vancouver. $1,100 if I am willing to stopover in Shanghai - not to anyone - NEVER stopover in Shanghai - they have something like a 47% success rate of you making your second flight.
PS: The folks who painted your horns look like they did a great job - I like the colour which is more understated than some of the over-the-top Italian sports car looking ones. Not that I might that but bright red doesn't seem to me to go with much. When I retire and have my home settled I'll probably be looking at the big horns myself.
